Getting started
How do I know if I need therapy or coaching?
A good rule of thumb is to assess your current situation and your desired future.
Therapy is primarily focused on healing — it's the right fit if you're struggling with daily functioning, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or addiction, or processing trauma. It provides a safe, clinical space for healing and restoring your baseline of well-being.
Coaching is about flourishing. It's future-oriented. If you're generally functioning well but feel stuck, want to achieve a specific personal or professional goal, or seek deeper growth and direction, coaching offers the tools and accountability to reach the next level.
Still unsure? Send us a message through the contact page — we'll help you figure out the right fit.
Can I work with you from anywhere in the world?
Yes — all Mindful Flourishing programs are available globally.
Coaching sessions run via secure video, so location is never a barrier. Online courses are self-paced and accessible from any device. Workshops are offered in both virtual and in-person cohorts. Retreats are held at announced venues and virtually depending on the program.
I work with clients across the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and beyond.
Practical details
Do you accept insurance?
Coaching, courses, workshops, and retreats are non-clinical services and are not covered by health insurance. All programs are self-pay with transparent flat-rate pricing.
Sliding-scale rates are available for coaching — Dr. Paula founded Mindful Flourishing Institute as a nonprofit specifically so cost would never be a barrier. If pricing is a concern, mention it when you reach out and we'll find a workable option.
About Dr. Paula's approach
Do I need to be religious or spiritual to work with you?
Not at all. While my background includes serving as an ordained minister, my practice is entirely inclusive and respectful of all belief systems — including secular ones.
My focus is always on your internal wisdom. We will ground our work in practical, research-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Family Systems theory.
If spiritual concepts resonate with you, we can certainly incorporate them. If not, we focus solely on evidence-based tools and compassionate care. I have worked with atheists, agnostics, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and everything in between — what matters is that the work serves you.
What does it mean when you incorporate both "science and spirit" into your practice?
It means you don't have to choose between logic and heart.
My engineering background means I value what works — so I use proven, research-backed strategies that lead to tangible changes in your thinking, behavior, and relationships. No fluff, no vague affirmations.
My ministerial background brings profound care, deep empathy, and the unwavering belief that you possess the innate capacity to transform your life. You'll receive practical tools for your mind and compassionate support for your soul — both, not either/or.
The result is a practice that is both rigorous and deeply human.
